After appearing in numerous commercials, Hanlon began work in the play-acting. He has appeared on The boards as Gordon, Mark, and Roger in Rent, and played Fiyero in the national tour virtuous Wicked. Off-Broadway, he has marked as Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance and Austin Aviator in I Love You Because.
He also appeared in goodness world premiere of Edges.
